About Us...

Mike Rees, Trainer/Instructor

Mike began his equine career at age 7, going to riding camp and taking lessons in hunt seat and western at Circle K stable and YMCA's Camp Kern. He continued at Camp Kern, becoming part of the summer camp and maintenance staff. He even taught lessons to small children, reminding him of his days where he was the little one learning to ride in the exact same ring. In 1994 Mike also rode at Ridenour Performance Horses.

In 1995 Mike moved to Lamar, Colorado, where he obtained his Associates degree in Equine studies, specializing in cutting and reining, from Lamar Community College. This was an intense program where Mike worked with a wide variety of horses from untouched youngsters to horses that needed miles. It definitely gave Mike the foundation to train horses, regardless of their level of experience.

In 1997 Mike began his work as assistant trainer for Stonehurst Riding Club, in Louisville, KY, where he worked predominantly with Arabians, specializing in Hunter/Jumpers.

Since the inception of RRR in 1999, Mike has broadened the spectrum of horses with which he works. While continuing to work with Arabian horses in hunter/jumper disciplines, he also trains them for halter, dressage, country pleasure, english pleasure and western pleasure divisions. But Mike's skills are not limited to just Arabian horses; he has also become very skilled with Welsh Ponies and Cobs, as well as starting and fitting Thoroughbreds for the track.

He has also had great success as an instructor and equitation coach. Mike works very well instructing and coaching all levels of students, from beginning riders through advanced students who are actively showing. He has retained many students over the years who came to him having never ridden a horse. Those students are continuing to make Mike proud with countless wins in the show ring.

Elizabeth Reed, Assistant Trainer

Elizabeth joined the RRR crew in January 2009. Elizabeth grew up being one of those horse crazy girls and always knew she wanted to learn as much as she could about horses. As an adult, she realized there was no better place to learn than in a busy show and training facility. Before becoming a team member here, Elizabeth spent time at Meredith Manor where she learned more about the equine industry. Elizabeth brings endless dedication to the RRR crew and she has been a wonderful addition to RRR.

Angi Hartman-Rees, Instructor

Angi began riding hunt seat and western in riding camp and lessons through Girl Scout and Red Cedar Center, in Ft. Wayne, IN. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Equestrian Science from William Woods University in 1997. While in school she switched from Hunt to Saddle seat, working for such trainers as Brent Jacobs, Ed Bennett, Rich Campbell, and Marilyn McFarlane. She coordinated lesson programs for Werk Way Stables, in Lexington, KY, YMCA's Camp Kern, and Girl Scout Camp Logan, along with doing much teaching to her fellow students in college. Since coming to RRR, Angi has coordinated an active lesson program, ranging from first-time beginners to "A" circuit show riders.
